Bhaktapur, Bagmati province - The National Tuberculosis Control Center (NTCC), with technical and financial support from WHO Country Office for Nepal, jointly organized a three-day training programme from 6–8 May to improve the management of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) in Nepal. The training brought together 24 medical doctors and health focal persons from DR-TB treatment centres across all provinces. The programme helped participants strengthen their knowledge of using newer DR-TB treatment regimens, including shorter all-oral treatment options. It also focused on improving patient monitoring, managing side effects, strengthening clinical decision-making, and improving recording and reporting systems. Through training sessions and case discussions, health workers gained better understanding of quality DR-TB care and patient management. The programme also helped improve the use of treatment cards, registers and digital reporting systems. Following the training, WHO will continue supporting DR-TB centres through regular on-site mentoring visits to strengthen case management and patient-centred care across different national sites.
