Overview
The Madrid Global Obesity Summit is a global stocktaking moment under the WHO Acceleration Plan to Stop Obesity (2022–2030). It brings together governments, people living with obesity, young people, civil society and implementing partners to assess progress, exchange experience and agree on equitable, evidence-informed priorities for prevention, early intervention and person-centred care towards 2030.
The three-day Summit culminates on 28 October with the Global Call for Accelerated Action to Stop Obesity. Through it, countries and partners will renew and raise their political commitments for 2026–2030.
Objectives of the Summit
1. Review implementation progress across participating countries.
2. Identify lessons learned, good practices and innovative approaches.
3. Strengthen peer learning and technical collaboration among Member States.
4. Define priorities for the next phase of implementation towards 2030.
5. Secure renewed political commitment through the Global Call for Action (2026–2030).
The High-Level Session: Call for Action on 28 October (10:30–13:30 CET) will be livestreamed here.
